How Do I Schedule a Shipment Pickup?
You can schedule pickups for your shipments online or by contacting a NET representative by phone or email. How Do I Track a Freight Shipment?
You can track your freight easily online, if you have set up an online account, by clicking on “Tracking”. You can also get information on tracking your shipment from a NET representative by phone or email.
How Can I Find Freight Class or Freight Density?

Freight Class: Freight class refers to commodity classification. Most carriers follow the system of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFC). If you are not already familiar with how to determine the freight class, a NET representative can help you determine the freight class for your shipment.

Density: Freight density measures how heavy a package is relative to the size of the package, and is often necessary to determine freight class. A package with a high freight density weighs a lot relative to its size, and a package with a low freight density weighs little relative to its size. Use a density calculator to determine the density of a shipment, or you can contact a NET representative to help you with this.

How do I Avoid Damage During Shipping?

While it is possible for items to get damaged during shipping, it is very easy to limit the likelihood of damage by making sure your shipment is properly packed. Items should be securely packed in a way that some movement of the pallet/crate/box will not cause damage. If you have a particularly sensitive item or would like more information on proper packing, please contact a NET representative. You can also check out our Blanket Wrap Shipping options.

What Are My Insurance Options for My Shipment?
Some carriers only offer limited insurance on shipments. NET offers the option of additional insurance in these cases, or when the service being used cannot offer enough insurance for the value of your shipment. You can contact a NET representative for more information on ensuring your shipment.
What Can I Do if My Shipment Requires Special Handling?

Many shipments require some degree of special handling, and we offer a wide range of special services. Some of the more basic services, like lift-gates and residential pick-ups/deliveries, can be selected when quoting/booking online. A NET representative can help you with more detailed special handling and can also help you determine what services you may need. Accessorial charges are charges made for performing services beyond normal pickup and delivery, such as inside delivery or liftgate.

K

Air Freight Forwarder

An air freight forwarder provides pickup and delivery service under its own tariff, consolidates shipments into larger units, prepares shipping documentation, and tenders shipments to the airlines. Air freight forwarders do not generally operate their own aircraft and may therefore be called “indirect air carriers.” Because the air freight forwarder tenders the shipment, the airlines consider the forwarder to be the shipper.

K

Arrival Notification

Arrival Notifications are when the carrier notifies the consignee (receiver) of a scheduled delivery date and time. Arrival notification is an accessorial service provided for an additional fee.
K

Bill of Lading (BOL)

A bill of lading document that establishes the terms and conditions of a contract between a shipper and a transportation company. It serves as a contract of carriage and a receipt for goods. The BOL is provided by the shipping company to the shipper and should be given to the driver upon freight pickup.
K

Blind Shipment

A blind shipment is when the customer has contracted with the carrier so that the shipper’s or consignee’s information is not given. This keeps the origin location and receiving destination unaware of each other and provides two separate Bills of Lading, in which both show the carrier’s terminal as the shipper and the receiver.
